Random ZigZag | Adobe Illustrator Script

This script extends the functionality of Illustrator’s built-in ZigZag effect, offering greater control and customization for creating zigzag patterns on curves.

Features:

• Randomization of zigzag height and width
• Option to change zigzag orientation along the curve
• Unlike Illustrator's native zigzag effect, this script can create neat, uniform zigzag along the curve with irregular segments

To make uniform zigzag:

1. Check the Random box in the Interval Width field
2. Set the minimum and maximum width values to the same number

Installation Guide:

1. Unpack the archive

2. Copy the JSX script file to Illustrator’s scripts folder:

• Windows:

  %programfiles%/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator [VERSION]/Presets/[LOCALE]/Scripts

• macOS:

  ~/Applications/Adobe Illustrator [VERSION]/Presets/[LOCALE]/Scripts

3. Run the script from the File > Scripts menu
